2024 Back to School Campaign (Part 1)

All Kansas children have a right to go to school, regardless of their vaccination status.

K.S.A. 72-6262 requires that every school inform parents about what immunizations are required for children to attend school. KSHF is asking every school nurse, superintendent, and school board president in Kansas to include information about legal alternatives to immunization requirements (such as medical and religious exemptions) in their communications to parents.

We need your help!

Here’s how you can take action to protect the health and rights of Kansas kids:

  1. Download our sample letter.

  2. Mail a copy of the letter to the superintendent, school board president, and school nurses in your district. You can find this information on your district’s website or in our Back to School Directory. Don’t have access to a printer? Send an email instead!

Things to note:

  • Be sure to send the letter as yourself, not on behalf of KSHF. You may want to note that you live within the school district or that your children attend school in this district.

  • You may consider adding information to the letter, such as a personal vaccine injury story or an educational handout about vaccines.
