More Recess, Less Food Dye, & NO Pesticide Liability:

Support CCR on HB2164

The Conference Committee Report on Senate Substitute Bill for HB2164 includes SB390 (prohibiting food dyes and additives in school lunches), SB339 (daily recess for K-8 students), and does NOT include HB2476 (bad bill - pesticide liability shield). We need representatives to know that HB2164 is a good bill and does NOT include the pesticide liability shield. Contact House Representatives and encourage them to vote YES on HB2164 when it comes to the floor on April 9th.

Hello, my name is [Name], and I live in [City or Zip Code].

I’m calling to ask Representative [Last Name] to vote yes on HB2164.

The conference committee report for HB2164 now includes the language of SB390 and SB339, but does NOT include the pesticide liability shield, HB2476.

I support SB390 because I am concerned about the role that highly processed ingredients may play in children’s health and behavior. I support SB339 because daily physical activity for children will improve their health and learning. Together in HB2164, these bills represent a step forward in improving the health of our state’s future leaders.

For these reasons, I respectfully urge Representative [Last Name] to vote yes on HB2164.

Thank you for your time.

Subject: Support CCR on HB2164

Dear Representative [Last Name],

I am writing as a Kansas constituent to ask you to support the conference committee report on HB2164.

HB2164 now includes the language of SB390 and SB339, but does NOT include the pesticide liability shield, HB2476.

I support SB390. Many parents and community members like me are increasingly concerned about the role that highly processed ingredients may play in children’s health and behavior. Several of the additives addressed in SB 390 are already restricted or banned in other countries. We must do better for our children. This bill represents a reasonable step toward improving the quality of food served to Kansas students.

I also support SB339. Daily physical activity is essential for children’s physical health, mental well-being, and academic success. Exercise isn’t a break from learning; it fuels learning. SB339 will improve the health and learning of Kansas children – our state’s future leaders.

For these reasons, I respectfully urge you to vote YES on HB2164.

Sincerely,
[Name]
